Reading

I finally picked up The Art of Gathering, a book that is popular with communitarians and the like. The analysis of what makes a cozy moment is so thorough and so right. It's all the things you already know presented in a functional way. Makes me happy to set the stage for serendipity.

Listening

Knitting needs a soundtrack and my favorite podcast has returned just in time for some big projects. Rhiannon Giddens' Aria Code is all the best things about modern life. Beauty facilitated by technology. The episode of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice gutted me.

Visiting

The Museum of Fine Arts Boston has a special exhibit featuring John Singer Sargent's paintings and some of the dresses worn by his subjects. While the ratio of dresses to paintings was disappointingly low (more dresses, please!), the Lady Macbeth costume was worth the admission. Beetle wings adorned the crocheted body and were just lovely.

Exhibit closes Jan 15 2024

Swooning

Erdem is my favorite fashion house right now. Their clothes are opulent and elegant and capture the spark of the past meeting the present.
